Well….no. Covid-19 is with us to stay indefinitely but it has become endemic and is no longer killing as many people. And this summer it does seem to be less prevalent. Though much of this may reflect a lack of reporting by the public. Less testing is being done so less cases are being reported. But we can definitely say we are so done with this whole precaution, Covid-19 protocol thing!! Well….mostly.
I am still being cautious at work since I have really appreciated staying healthy these last few years. I’m one of those people who gets Really sick when I get sick. So I am very glad to have apparently avoided contracting Covid, the flu, and RSV so far (knock on wood). So I am continuing to mask even though masking is now optional for our clients. Since I work right over my clients face when I massage their neck and shoulders it makes sense to take that precaution to keep myself and everyone else as healthy as possible.
I am being less cautious out in public. I only wear my mask if its a crowded indoor space. If I am going into the co-op during a less busy time I do not wear my mask. That may change as winter comes but for now the risk seems minimal. I am enjoying outdoor music venues, kayaking tours, and other activities without wearing a mask as well. So much so that I have occasionally forgotten my cloth n95 filter mask at home for work and have had to don a disposable one.
We are all learning to navigate a world a bit changed by the pandemic and I think it will continue to change at an increasingly rapid rate. So learning and leaning into your adaptability and resiliency will give you the best odds of staying afloat in unpredictable currents. I’m doing my best to keep that in mind.
